A powerful, engaging drumming experience with compact convenience”
The DTX6 series features the DTX-PRO module, which has same sound engine of flagship sound module DTX-PROX, with it's innovative KIT MODIFIERs, to spark creativity and deliver superb performance in a compact configuration.
The original Yamaha TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) head surface used in the flagship models, combine with fantastic real drum sounds and natural ambience captured in world-renowned studios, provide an authentic playing experience.
The DTX6 Series is recommended for all drummers who want to have fun, play like a pro, need a compact kit, and want to easily transfer their skills to acoustic drums.
Real sounds that drive the drummer
No compromise has been made in recording the sound of the instruments themselves. The DTX PRO sounds have been fine-tuned to naturally follow the drummer’s performance and allow for maximum expression.
The acoustic drum sounds built into the DTX-PRO are all real sounds recorded in best recording studios in the world. As well as recording the direct drum sounds though, the unique natural room ambience of the studios where they were recorded, was also sampled.
Performances by leading Yamaha drums artists were recorded and mixed by a team of recording engineer to give the final instrument samples. The project sound director, an electronic musical instrument development professional, specified exacting recording techniques to capture the full detailed sound of each drum and cymbal, from the initial attack, until the very end of the natural sound.
The DTX pads, the drummer’s interface with their instrument, have been carefully matched to the DTX-PRO Module to offer excellent expressive capabilities.
Intuitive functionality that stirs creativity
The KIT MODIFIER knobs featured on the DTX-PRO offers drummers limitless possibilities for their creativity.
The KIT MODIFIERs condense the sound creation know-how that Yamaha has accumulated over decades into three knobs: AMBIENCE, COMPRESSION, and EFFECT. A wide range of tonal possibilities are available thanks to Yamaha engineers — from the natural sound of acoustic drums, through to live performance sounds, to heavily effected sounds.
The AMBIENCE knob controls the natural ambience and reverb of the drum kit sound. On acoustic drum sounds, the AMBIENCE MODIFIER controls the real recorded natural ambience from 0-50%. When turned up higher than 50%, high quality digital reverb is also introduced to the sound.
The COMP and EFFECT knobs utilize the "1-knob" control technology featured in many Yamaha PA products.
The COMP adds one-knob compression to the whole kit sound, from subtle to very obvious, while EFFECT controls the mix of the two internal effects processors. The processors are fully adjustable and have a long list of available effects to choose from.
A playing experience in a class of its own
The DTX6 series is equipped with TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) pads, providing unparalleled levels of realism, feel and quietness.
Yamaha's original TCS head surface uses a foamed silicone material that contains thousands of air bubbles. With the perfect level of firmness and rebound that allows players to hit hard, TCS offers a realistic, natural feel that inspires you to want to keep playing, and because the surface never loosens, every strike feels perfect.
In addition, a unique floating structure, without any direct contact with the head and body parts, prevents vibration from being transmitted elsewhere, while also improving pad sensitivity. The air bubbles in the TCS head also serve as a cushion to soften the stick sound.
KEY FEATURES
Detailed reproduction of the drummer's performance
The DTX6 series uses 3-zone pads for snare, crash*, and ride. The snare offers the main articulations - head, closed rim, and open rim - and the cymbals offer edge, bow, and cup triggering. In addition, the cymbal pads can be choked or muted by grabbing the edge. This allows for a variety of performance techniques and lets drummers comfortably practice their accuracy.
*DTX6K-X crash is a single zone pad
A more musical ride
The ride cymbal also offers positional sensing. This means the sound changes depending on where the cymbal is played. This feature is possible thanks to the high-definition long sampling of the cymbal sounds featured in the DTX-PRO sound module. It is perfect for accurately reproducing delicate cymbal work.
A kick that just makes you want to play more
The KP90 Kick Pad features Yamaha's unique multi-layer cushion structure that offers the perfect feel with unparalleled comfort, regardless of the strength of the stroke. The 7.5-inch pad is also suitable for use with double bass drum pedals and has a wide stance with large anti-slip spurs, and carpet grabbing mechanism, ensuring a stable playing surface that stays in place.
Everything a drummer needs
The DTX-PRO module comes fully equipped to communicate with other technology and the outside world. The USB can send and receive MIDI data, and also send and receive audio data when connected directly to a computer or smart device. The unit also comes with a MIDI OUT socket, allowing you to send MIDI data to connected devices. Up to 14 pads or drum triggers can be connected to the trigger inputs on the module, making it simple to create a hybrid setup with a mix of acoustic and electronic drums.
Superbly Playable
Reproducing the way a drum behaves when struck is a key factor in the playability of electronic drums.
Yamaha has undertaken an exhaustive investigation of how drums respond when hit, leveraging this information to achieve a truly faithful representation of instrument behavior. Moreover, professional drummers from around the world have evaluated the performance of the DTX-PRO, allowing Yamaha to improve its expressive capabilities still more. Yamaha’s expertise as a manufacturer of music hardware has allowed them to offer combinations of expertly crafted modules and pads that deliver superb playability.
A high-performance sound engine that allows for total sound creation
The high-performance sound engine in the DTX-PRO module leverages the technologies that Yamaha has acquired over decades of making musical instruments of all kinds.
Every single channel of the DTX-PRO module has three band, sweepable EQ, channel compression (in addition to the overall kit compression), Transient Adjustment (where the Attack and Release of each sound are individually adjustable) and Insertion effects, to help let drummers recreate their favorite drum sounds.
As a complement to this, Yamaha drum pads feature pad sensing technologies that respond with precise accuracy to the actions of the player, delivering the ultimate in expressive capability that is reflected in the sound.
Reliable Yamaha Hardware
Yamaha's HS650A hi-hat stand is included with the DTX6K2-X and DTX6K3-X. All of the DTX6 Series also uses Yamaha's traditional ball clamps for snare pads, making fine adjustment of settings easy.
Yamaha is also one of the finest acoustic drum makers in the world, and its hardware is trusted by many professional drummers, for its strength, ease of use, and stability.
An extensive range of training functions to support drummers
The best practice functions featured in previous DTX models are also found in the DTX-PRO. As well as the sophisticated programmable metronome, the module offers a comprehensive recorder function, 10 training functions that are ideal for players of all standards, as well as 37 training songs that allow you to learn various genres. Beginners and professionals alike will find the DTX-PRO training functions a useful aid for daily practice.
Professional grade headphone amp
Yamaha realize that it is incredibly important that drummers can hear themselves clearly, so the DTX-PRO module comes equipped with a high precision, low distortion, low noise, and high-power headphone amplifier. This circuitry delivers high-fidelity sound directly to the player, has been developed exclusively for electronic drums, and it envelops the player in realistic drum sounds.
Cubase AI Included
The DTX-PRO comes with a download code for the latest version of "Cubase AI" the powerful music production software.
By connecting the DTX-PRO to your computer with a USB cable, all recording, editing, and mixing tasks, that are found in modern music production, can be handled by the one software program.
